Sharing the Vision
Communicating the organization’s vision is a profound leadership purpose and daily practice. A vision is a look into the future. What do you see? What are you going to accomplish? “A leader suffers when he or she doesn’t effectively communicate the overall vision of the entity and, maybe more importantly, how each individual adds value to achieving the overall vision,” wrote one of our leaders.
A vision flows out of a cause. Why do you do what you do? As leaders, we must sell people on the cause. Without vision, work disintegrates into a job. Vision-casters look for ways to instill confidence and hope in people. Our vulnerabilities can unlock somebody’s heart wherein we place value and vision. With that in mind, are we connecting or correcting?
One author noted that leaders need to talk vision more than tasks. They explain why the task is important. “A task becoming a vision creates a connection to the vision of the organization.” Indeed, the vision is the greater goal. What are some of the things a leader can do to fuel vision?
