Vision Work

Photographer hand holds a protective filter from the lens, against the backdrop of a beautiful mountain landscapeCommunicating the organization’s vision is a profound leadership purpose and daily practice. A vision is a look into the future. What do you see? What are you going to accomplish? “A leader suffers when he or she doesn’t effectively communicate the overall vision of the entity and, maybe more importantly, how each individual adds value to achieving the overall vision,” wrote one of our leaders.

A vision flows out of a cause. Why do you do what you do? As leaders, you must sell people to the cause. Without vision, work disintegrates into a job. Vision-casters look for ways to instill confidence and hope in people. A leader’s vulnerability can unlock somebody’s heart. Once unlocked, you can deposit nuggets of vision and value. With that in mind, let us connect more and correct less.

What does vision look like with skin on it:

  1. Illuminating: Ongoing communication of your organization’s core values
  2. Relating: Thinking of others more than you think of yourself
  3. Facilitating: Be an active listener and show interest in their story
  4. Cultivating: Practice excellence in your daily walk
  5. Assimilating: Build teams instead of shifts.

Have a wonderful week!
